Not even Michelin star restaurants are doing it like Darrow’s. My first time in here, was met with a warm welcome. You truly do leave here feeling like family. The food is incredible, the customer service even more so. A completely memorable experience. Thank you!

Great atmosphere, plenty of seating, free parking garage 1 minute walk. Food very flavorful and delicious. You definitely feel more like family and not a customer. The owner and other workers came to our table and had great conversations. They Made sure our family of 6, felt comfortable, at home and happy with the food. I would recommend trying anything on the menu. Seafood was fresh and not fishy at all. No pork in any of their food so great for those with food restrictions.

Amazing delicious food with a restaurant team that genuinely cares about your experience. Even if you're just driving through Carson, it is worth a slight detour to experience a meal here. Every bite was a masterpiece. I'm still dreaming about the corn bread. For dinner two people shared a poboy sandwich (tender brisket on pillow-y French bread), and combo meal with very tasty shrimp and catfish! Cocktails are fresh and delicious. We appreciated the sample. I didn't think of taking pictures until we got to the Beignets and coffee. Will definitely be going back to this place, maybe for their big Mardi Gras party! Easy free parking too.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hidden Gem with Soul, Southern Comfort, and Incredible Hospitality**
Meet **Norwood**, the owner of **Uncle Darrow's Bar & Grill**. His motto says it all:
**"Once you enter through these doors, you are family!"**
After my visit, I can honestly say those aren't just words—they're the heart and soul of this restaurant. From the moment we walked in, everyone treated us like welcomed guests at a family gathering.
I came with a friend who doesn't eat meat, and she ordered the **Impossible Bowl**. She absolutely loved it! Every bite was packed with flavor, fresh ingredients, and perfectly seasoned vegetables. She couldn't stop talking about how satisfying and delicious it was.
I went with the **Catfish Supper**, and wow...this meal was Southern comfort food at its finest. The catfish was golden brown with a beautifully crisp, well-seasoned coating that gave way to tender, flaky, melt-in-your-mouth fish. Every bite was hot, fresh, and cooked to perfection.
For my sides, I chose the **collard greens** and the **red beans and rice**, and both were outstanding. The greens were slow-cooked, savory, and deeply flavorful with that rich, home-cooked taste that's hard to find these days. The red beans and rice were creamy, smoky, and perfectly seasoned, making them the ideal companion to the catfish.
Now let's talk about the **cornbread**.
I'm usually not a cornbread guy, but this completely changed my mind. It was unbelievably moist, buttery, slightly sweet, with a perfectly golden crust that gave way to a soft, fluffy center. It practically melted in my mouth. It was so good that after my friend tried a bite of mine, she immediately ordered one for herself!
To cool off on a blazing 90-degree day, we each ordered a **Darrowlada**, Uncle Darrow's take on a piña colada. It was icy, creamy, tropical, and incredibly refreshing, topped with a bright red cherry that made it feel like the perfect summertime treat. It was exactly what we needed in the heat.

Overnight stay nearby taking a cruise tomorrow. We found this wonderful Cajun restaurant. The po boys were fabulous. I had the catfish and my wife had the oyster. The bread was perfect and the catfish/oysters were the best!!! It is such a pleasure to find a place like this outside of New Orleans. They are only open Thursday through Sunday so make sure you come and eat on one of those days!!!

This spot is awesome.. great people and amazing food. One of the owners immediately greeted us when we entered and was very kind, helpful, and informative giving us recommendations and explaining some of the history of his family and the restaurant. They are proud of the food and have nothing to hide.. they give you samples so you don't have to guess if their gumbo is legit.. and it is the real deal... deep rich flavor, not watery, bold but smooth with just the right kick. The fried catfish, shrimp, and oysters were lightly breaded, perfectly cooked, and very fresh. The greens are a must try.. the word is flavor! They had a great vinegar tang. Nothing is bland or ordinary.. you can taste the love in the food and real family recipes. The atmosphere inside is really nice and they have all the cocktails and fun stuff to give you that authentic experience on top of the outstanding food. All the staff was very nice and they truly do treat you like family. This uniquely American cuisine is actually pretty easy to mess up.. often bland or soggy leaving you saying just OK.. but at Darrow's they deliver the goods and the food is done right with no shortcuts, freshly prepared, perfectly spiced, and we left planning how soon we could come back again to try more of the menu. The prices are very reasonable for the quality.. and the portions are generous. This is the real New Orleans right here in Carson.. doing it right and treating the customer right. Darrow's really does treat you like family.. if only anyone in my family could make food half this good! Highly recommended.

Walked in and was instantly welcomed and felt like we were welcomed into the family! The owner stopped eating his breakfast to greet us and help us out. He gave us a sample of the gumbo, and man, I was sold. He told us about the different items on the menu, and then we ordered.
My husband got a chicken sausage po’boy with fries, and I got the gumbo with jambalaya rice and cornbread. The food was delicious, and when my husband tasted the cornbread, he went back and bought more. After eating, we got the beignets and ate them there. I was not disappointed.
Definitely will be coming back and bringing more people!

The free parking was easy and convenient. It wasn't crowded for a Sunday. The menu was easy to read and staff assisted with my questions. The restaurant was clean with a very nice southern vibe. I ordered the catfish with Jambalaya and red beans, cornbread. The food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time and was tasty with perfect seasoning. Everything was great! The staff checked in with me for any needs. There was a constant flow of customers but it never was crowded. Live music is planned. Check the hours before you go because it's not open everyday all day. I'll definitely return and try dessert.
